It's a comforting feeling to be able to depend on Drivers for Survivors for help when a patient desperately needs transportation to their therapy treatments. The volunteers to this program have compassion, commitment, and offer encouragement to the patients that are so in need of kind words at this time in their life. Thank you all very much!!!

Being diagnosed with cancer can turn a person's life upside down. Getting to and from cancer treatment is often one of the most difficult challenges, especially for folks who are elderly or disabled or those without extended family support. Drivers for Survivors is working to provide a critical service for cancer patients by providing compassionate, caring volunteers to take people to their lifesaving and life-sustaining treatments. We hope to see this program fully launched in 2013 and encourage community support.

We anticipate that Drivers for Survivors is going to be a big asset to the Washington Hospital oncology patients. We are already hearing about the benefits from those that have utilized the service during their pilot program. Patients are commenting how much they like the Drivers for Survivors' volunteers and the level of service they are receiving. The element that sets Drivers for Survivors apart is how DFS is about building support networks and companionship throughout their treatments. This is a very human approach to a real need. We are excited to watch them grow.
